Insecurity in Oyo State: Towards a safer Oyo State.

Blame game/Opposition game A wise man once said, "When you keep blaming others for every situation you're in, someday you’ll begin to look like you’re the mistake all along". This holds true of our politicians in Nigeria. When a new government spend a good portion of its administration to point fingers on the failures or bad gimmicks of the old/displaced government instead of thinking outside the box to proffer solutions to the dilemma at hand, soon they will start to appear incompetent and an excuse seeker. Blame game has been a sad trend in our polity in this country. The APC government at the federal level elected in 2015 spent their entire first term blaming the deposed PDP government for insurgency and insecurity. Yeah, this state of insecurity ended the PDP reign of 16 years and the same is about to end the APC reign because they've also failed to keep the nation secured. They are now a victim of the situation that brought them to be. I hope this same trend  won

The Oyo I want: youth engagement in Oyo state.

I think right now I can start to ask my governor what he has done for us, educated youths, budding entrepreneurs with creative ideas needing capital, and skilled young artisans seeking the necessary tools for business operations... please add yours if I did not capture your class/case among the above portfolios. The time is over boasting about what is being done for our parents by duly giving them their deserved rights (salary), the time is over bragging about paying our grandparents their entitled privilege for their tireless years of service. Now is the time to ask, what fate is ours, the youth of Oyo state to build a future we desire. It's time to ask, not just what the plans are because we are tired of learning about unexecutable plans, but we desire to know the actions being taken to meaningfully engage young graduates, educated youths, skilled artisans, and vibrant entrepreneurial business ideas!  I'm pained to hear about Billions of Naira for bus terminus!!! Or should I

Amotekun, dead on arrival?

It was a bright evening as we marched through the bush path towards an earthen well in the thick forest to fetch some water back to the camp.  Few miles towards the described location of the well, a young ambassador veered off path to cut a tree branch and he was immediately dragged back by another ambassador as he pointed towards a partially buried tree branch on the ground. He said that was a sign to warn about a trap. Lo and behold, he was right, there was a trap. The ambassador grew up in an agrarian village and understood how to navigate forests following certain signs of nature and hunters. It dawned on me, that the act of forest navigation is an art and also a skill Western States security network (operation Amotekun) was put in place to checkmate the activities of killer herdsmen. Why would it be imperative to have an outfit that would assist the military and other para-military outfits to end their menace? Simply because the military and police have failed and are inadequate w

He became a Politician

Well, not just him, they all did when they got to the seat of power. Is there a genie on the seat of power that turns them all to politicians? Not really, it's just the power play. Over the years, we have seen philanthropist with selfless personality being moved (or pushed) to vie for public posts so they could do more good for the people with state resources.  Not to mention names though, even comrades who fought good fights for the wellbeing of the populace as activists, and who the public thought would be a Messiah in government also disappointed when they got to the seat. What happened? They became politicians and drowned in the pool of its dirty games. Playing politics & politics playing. There is a saying that absolute power corrupts absolutely. The above proverb means that whenever a person has absolute power over people or things, it morally affects their nature and fills them with destructive pride. However, it takes humility to be save from this mind corruption.

We always run

Don't think it, just run! We run, yes we always do! Isn't that a problem? When we can't face problems to see them solved but instead we run! I've thought it over, and statistics have proven it to be, that we have the best, creative, and talented, but yet we always run. We run to foreign grounds to be productive and leave our roots in ruins. Billions have gone, millions are plotting to cross and the number will continue to rise if nothing happens. Is that all we can do, I mean is that all we should do? Some people sacrificed to make the places we run to habitable but we are unwilling to pay the price. But how? They've failed us, or should I say, we allowed them to fail us. They will continue to fail and milk us in corruption because they know we would only run without a fight. We fight those who close their borders at us instead of fighting those who pushed us out to the borders. If our own people, our own leaders could so corruptly treat us, why wouldn'

The "Auxiliary Agenda" in Oyo State

Can we not hide behind a transparent curtain and come out to the truth? The Park Management System was an Auxiliary agenda, instead of a digital agenda. Just when I thought we were going digital with Motor Park Management. When the ban was placed, I felt it was really about the safety of lives and properties. But when Auxiliary was appointed as chair of the PMS, I cannot but ask, is this what this has been all about? If Auxiliary can not have it, then no one else could. Is the PMS a clever innovation to install Auxiliary? Just when I thought we were going digital with Motor Park Management, Auxiliary is all that is the focal point. As much as I would like to stand behind my Governor to justify every of his actions, truth must be told and integrity of personality must be sustained. The governor had installed men and women of academic, administrative and political excellence into his government. But Auxiliary's portfolio is a bit of taint to this record. Auxiliary's shrewd w

"But I regret to inform you....". An Open Letter to Governor Seyi Makinde

“But I regret to inform you”… Many entrepreneurs who have at one time or the other submitted sponsorship proposals to companies will be familiar with the sentence used for this article’s topic. The phrase is usually preceded by a long interesting story of how wonderful the idea in your proposal is and how viable the idea is to become something great. The reader/entrepreneur will be elated by the appetite wetting complementary write-up and in full expectation of a life-changing deal at the end, only to be stunned with the phrase “but we regret to inform you”…. Honestly, at this point, I care less what reasons are given for the rejection. Many wonderful business ideas and creative contents are still lying on the desk of many entrepreneurs for lack of adequate funds, resources or partnership to pursue the business. We don't have to blame the big companies that reject our proposals to spend on frivolous events. If only the state government can recognise the importance, richness, op
