I follow back

Each time I see that statement on twitter I ask, why not follow first. I discover it has become a norm for most Nigerians do not want to dare to be the first; first to take an action. Instead, they wait on others to take the first step for them to "follow back". This same mentality has been brought into social media.

Observing events during the Biafra agitation and the Revolution Now campaign, I see many Nigerians yearn for leadership and direction. They waited in silence for years for the person to take the lead towards their agitation before coming out en-masse. But why do they die in silence and not take the lead? Fear?

In classrooms, you will see children being afraid to say their minds even when they have an answer in mind. The assumption "what if I'm wrong," creates a fear that kills their confidence. What if you're wrong? There is no crime in being wrong, in fact, you learn from being corrected of a wrong.

Grow your confidence by learning to take on initiatives, actions, and speeches regardless of the challenges ahead. Learn to overcome inner fear by taking the first step that others can follow and soon our society will be a community of firsts.

Insecurity in Oyo State: Towards a safer Oyo State.

Blame game/Opposition game A wise man once said, "When you keep blaming others for every situation you're in, someday you’ll begin to look like you’re the mistake all along". This holds true of our politicians in Nigeria. When a new government spend a good portion of its administration to point fingers on the failures or bad gimmicks of the old/displaced government instead of thinking outside the box to proffer solutions to the dilemma at hand, soon they will start to appear incompetent and an excuse seeker. Blame game has been a sad trend in our polity in this country. The APC government at the federal level elected in 2015 spent their entire first term blaming the deposed PDP government for insurgency and insecurity. Yeah, this state of insecurity ended the PDP reign of 16 years and the same is about to end the APC reign because they've also failed to keep the nation secured.
